Company Profile
Since the formation of the company in 1998, and under the forward thinking leadership of Nico Louw, Renico Plant Hire has established itself as one of the leading plant hire companies in the North West area of Johannesburg. Our fleet consists of over 150 pieces of large earthmoving equipment and tipper trucks that are deployed on various sites on the Reef. These include large-scale shopping centre developments, casino developments, highway upgrades, mining, and various other building projects.
In 2007, with environmental issues in mind, it was expanded further to include crushers and screens under the banner of Renico Quarrying and Crushing, ably managed by Gert Brits. The crushers and screens have played an important role in the development of sections of our National Highways and in the on-site conversion of waste materials into re-usable aggregates, making a vital recycling contribution to the environment.
With a fully equipped and well-staffed workshop, all our equipment undergoes maintenance on a regular basis and is run through a comprehensive checking process before being sent out to our customers, thus ensuring a minimum of downtime to the hirer.
Our operators are well trained in both the operation of the equipment and in safety, ensuring that they are fully capable of handling the equipment competently, while our technical backup teams attend to any problems that may arise on site quickly and efficiently.
Renico Plant Hire has, as one of our primary goals, the
determination to satisfy our customer's needs in the most
cost effective and efficient manner possible.
Our experienced staff members are able
to assess proposed contracts or sites
requiring the use of heavy plant and
euipment carefully and advise our
customers on the most economical
and time efficient manner in which to
complete the necessary work.
It is with pride that we ensure that all of our customers get far more than "hired equipment." They pay normal prices for the equipment and get all the advice and expertise free, as part of the deal. It is all directed towards completing contracts productively.
From the outset, Nico has insisted that there should be a continual awareness of the environment in all the work the Company performs. Whilst appreciating that there will always be some environmental sacrifices in the cause of development and progress, Renico Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd ensures at all times that there is as minimal an impact on the environment as possible on every site we work.
And we don't forget our home base either! Our head office is situated on a 5.70-hectare property, close to up-market residential areas. The property accommodates the workshop and parking area for our large fleet of vehicles, together with our offices and those of our associate companies. Being acutely aware that workshop facilities could be an eyesore, we have tastefully walled and gated the premises. Utilising water-wise plants, we have also developed the pavement area and the island at the intersection one passes in approaching the premises and we maintain the same on a regular basis. A landscaped garden, planted mainly with indigenous flora, greets visitors to our offices.
It appears that our contribution to our local environment has not gone un-noticed, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive Fleetwatch Magazine's "Green Star" mark of recognition in their March 2011 edition. Their gift of an indigenous Karee tree in honour of the award was greatly appreciated. (See the articles on our Media Coverage page.)
Embracing the needs of a changing industry by being committed to continuous review and improvement of its operations within a culture of customer focus, quality assurance, information technology, human resource development, and environmental responsibility.
To be recognised as the premier Plant Hire Company in South Africa known for our fanatical concern for our customer's needs, our management talent, market leadership and operational excellence.

Safety And Health
The key strategic objective is the achievement of "zero harm". Supervisors and management ensure that safety is not compromised in any circumstances by taking responsibility for employee safety, leading by example, encouraging positive safety behaviour and discouraging negative behaviour. Supervisors apply a policy of zero tolerance to non-compliance with safety standards.
Occupational health screening and medicals are undergone throughout the year, ensuring that employees are fit for work in their specific environment. Cases of occupational and non occupational disease are referred to external facilities. No pre-employment testing for HIV is undertaken and all HIV testing and counselling is undertaken voluntarily. Employees who are HIV positive are encouraged to participate in the wellness programmes available through various local clinics.
